The rescue took place around 11 a.m. Monday when firefighters from the Stratford Fire Department received a 911 call from the two men, said Assistant Chief Mike Camperlengo.
The chief said the men's 22-foot-boat had a mechanical issue and then they could not drop an anchor and their vessel was pushed by rough waves and winds into the break wall.
As the boat continued to take a pounding, it began to take on water and receive some damage including a hole in the bridge.
That's when the chief said the two men "smartly" decided to jump onto the rocks and call 911 for help.
The department deployed their 35-foot and 16-foot boats to rescue the two men. Once on scene, they were able to maneuver close enough to get them aboard their safely.
Neither man was injured and declined medical help.
U.S. Coast Guard officials are overseeing the removal of the vessel, he said. The owner had a contract with Sea Tow USA, so he didn't believe there would be an inssue with removing it.
